Apostles of Jesus with Pope John Paul II in 1985
The Apostles of Jesus:
order was founded in Uganda in 1968 by two Italian missionaries, the
late Bishop Sisto Mazzoldi and Rev. Fr. John Marengoni, both Comboni
missionaries. With the current headquarters in Nairobi - Kenya, the
Apostles of Jesus is a Catholic missionary order committed to the
service of the spiritual, pastoral and social welfare of all people.
Our Mission Statement
The Apostles of Jesus commit themselves completely to the services of the spiritual, pastoral and social welfare of all people in the spirit of Christ who came not to be served but to serve (Mt. 20: 28).
The mission of the Apostles of Jesus is the very mission of Jesus, given to His Apostles, to continue Christ's holistic ministry, so that all may have life and have it to the fullest (Jn. 10: 10) -- a mission of building together a new civilization of love, justice, peace and life.
The purposes of the missionary order of the Apostles of Jesus include:
• Primary evangelization;
• Founding new parishes and helping them become self-supporting;
• Running retreat centers and aggiornamento programs;
• Promoting priestly and religious vocations;
• Establishing centers for specialization for catechists and lay apostolate;
• Promoting inter-religious dialogue (ecumenism);
Promoting devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, to the Immaculate
Heart of Mary and St. Joseph; and
Cooperating in developing the welfare of people and working with them
to resolve social problems.
